Countdown begins!

So today is Tuesday and I leave in less than five whole days. I am feeling nervous, anxious, sad, and excited all at once. The weird thing is that I don't quite know what I am excited for. I know what I am leaving behind, I just don't know what I am going to. I think about Corpus Christi and wonder how on earth God thought to send me there. I have never given it a thought before but suddenly I feel like Jonah, saying anywhere but there God. It isn't really that bad, it's just not Seattle. I am pretty sure I will find a tumbleweed rolling down my street at any moment. I will miss the sweet aroma of Ladro coffee and the not so cool "boutique" version of Banana Republic at Alderwood Mall. Who will make fun of cities like Lynnwood or Marysville with me? Who will laugh at the fact that I am always afraid for my life when I go to the 164th Walmart whether it's 8:00 in the morning or 10:00 at night? I will miss the view of the mountains off the freeway when driving to the Needham's. Also coming off the Kirkland exit when you are headed West and can see the Olympics and Lake Washington. I will miss uber hip and trendy shopping in Kirkland; my favorite restaurants like Purple or going to Blue Water Bistro every year on my birthday. There is something to be said about home and the things you always do. However this is the same girl who told Dave Needham that she is so sick of Seattle she could puke! Okay God, you heard me and are granting me my wish to see other parts of the world...I just never thought Texas. I am grateful but very cautious at this point of man-eating tumbleweeds...

Really?

Really? I am 1.5 days away from school being over. I am so tired. There is this massive weariness when you end a school year. Questions surface like, have I failed him, is she ready for second grade, will his reading abilities sustain over the summer, will kids pick on her next year? They all haunt you. Hence why I am writing at nearly 1 in the morning...There goes my a.m. run. It is amazing to think that 6 years ago I started my teaching career and now I am just not sure what I will do when I grow up. It's funny how we make wrap our identifies up by a few words like, Oh, I'm a mom, I'm a cook, I'm a pilot, I'm a teacher. Really? Am I a teacher or am I just a person who teaches? As I look towards the wide open spaces of Texas I wonder who I will become. Scary!!! But good.

Someone put me to bed. Good grief!!!

Am I serious?

So, in less than 3 weeks, I am embarking on a journey to Corpus Christi Texas. I ask myself how in the world I got to this decision but it was a series of steps that the Lord has taken me through to get to the place where I would leave glorious Seattle for the tumble weeds of Corpus. Okay, it isn't that bad. It's actually pretty cool. The scenery may be flat but they do have sun and ocean. I could use your prayers!
